Diagrams of soundproofing
Sounds are such a common part of everyday life that we often overlook the damage they can do. Many sounds are unpleasant, uninvited and unwanted, resulting in sleep loss, anger, lack of concentration and illness. The one place we should expect to be noise pollution free is when relaxing in our homes. Yet as any flat dweller can testify, it’s very often the place where nightmares begin. With property in London so expensive property developers who have converted houses into flats have given little consideration to the noise pollution for both parties living in the flats. The sound proofing techniques we employ can eliminated 98% of all noise traveling through ceilings and walls, virtually eliminating noise altogether.

HOW DOES IT WORK?
We use an extremely strong network of metal angled bars, approximately 50mm or 2 inches deep and attach this to the existing joists. The cavity created is filled with acoustic rock wool. The ceiling is then covered in ½ inch soundproofing plasterboard. All joints are the sealed with mastic and another layer of ½ inch plasterboard is put on top of the existing one. Finally the ceiling is then plastered with two coats of plaster and left ready for painting. The same process is applied to walls.
